'Rebekah was loving and kind'

MIDLAND, Mich. (WOOD) - Rebekah Gay graduated from Bullock Creek High School in Midland a few years ago. But Friday night it will be the sight of a vigil held for her, two days after she was brutally murdered in her home.

Gay, 24, was found naked in a wooded area not far from her mobile home in Deerfield Township, about 15 miles from Mount Pleasant. A 55-year-old church pastor, John White, admitted to killing her with a rubber mallet and strangling her after he'd had fantasies about having sex with her dead body.

She was killed while her 3-year-old son was in the home.

Friday afternoon, her boyfriend was too distraught to talk to 24 Hour News 8. But his mother, Lisa Quinn, said the entire family was in "shock and disbelief that anyone could do anything so evil, especially to someone who is as loving and kind as Rebekah was."

What Rebekah didn't know is that her boyfriend had just bought an engagement ring and was planning to ask her to marry him soon.
