MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) - A 14-year-old mid-Michigan boy and his 11-year-old sister who came to the rescue of a woman fleeing a homicidal ex-convict were honored by the Isabella County sheriff with a lifesaving award on Tuesday.

Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski presented James Persyn III and Acelin Persyn with the awards for their efforts to help a CMU coed who had been raped and escaped from a homicidal ex-convict,

James was home Jan. 16 in Lincoln Township with his sister and 2-year-old brother when the Central Michigan University student started banging on the door and screaming for help.

They let the woman in and went into a bathroom to hide with her.

The woman told authorities she was walking to her car in a university parking lot when 30-year-old Eric Ramsey approached her with a gun, got into her vehicle, took her to his mother's house and raped her. Ramsey was eventually shot and killed by a sheriff's deputy.

The 911 calls, obtained by 24 Hour News 8, show the urgency from all three people. The dispatcher calmly directed the children and the victim with clear instructions, and police quickly arrived.
