IONIA, Mich. (WOOD) - The people running the car recovery operation at the Ionia fairgrounds say 25 percent of the cars stranded for a week in the flooded parking lot are driving away.
There was no breakdown of the other 75 percent. It doesn't necessarily mean those cars are junk; some owners are hauling their cars away even when they start, just to be safe.
Some drivers are having their brakes and other equipment checked by a mechanic before they try to drive again.
Clear Channel Grand Rapids vice president Tim Feagan said he hopes to have all the cars towed off the flood plain and onto the adjacent staging area by Monday night.
Cars and owners will continue to be reunited for the rest of the week.
