IONIA, Mich. (WOOD) - A motorcyclist died when she lost control during heavy rain early Wednesday afternoon on Keefer Highway.
Collyne Barnard, 50, was headed south on the highway when she lost control and slid through the intersection with Grand River Avenue near Portland. She was thrown from her cycle and hit by an eastbound pickup truck.
She died at the scene.
Investigators said she was wearing a helmet and that alcohol and speed are not thought to be factors, but the rain at the time may be.
The driver of the truck, Charles Wolthuis, 42, of Portland, was not hurt.
The accident remains under investigation.
