GREENVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) -- A man and his son have been charged in connection with a fraud investigation at their family auto dealership in Montcalm County.
The secretary of state's office and state police began investigating La Fond Auto Sales, 4213 W. Carson City Road in Greenville, after receiving several complaints from customers.
Authorities say the owners -- John La Fond, 66, and Jonathan La Fond, 41, sold extended warranties to 34 customers without having sent the money to the warranty company.
Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land announced in January she suspended the business' license .
The La Fonds were later arrested and arraigned on Thursday on 11 counts of obtaining money under false pretenses more than $1,000 and less than $20,000. The men could spend five years in prison if convicted.
