A suspected drunk driver is spending Thanksgiving in jail, following a high-speed chase.  Michigan State Police say Wednesday night around 8:45 a trooper from the Ionia post tried to pull over a speeding vehicle on M-21 near Hayes Road in Muir.

The speeding vehicle was a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck.  The Dodge truck pulled through a gas station parkin lot and back onto M-21 where a pursuit began.  The chase went north on Hayes Road where speeds hit 110 miles per hour.  The fleeing driver also turned off his lights at one point in an attempt to get away.

The driver of the truck was unable to stop at the intersection of Hayes and McKenna roads, went into a ditch and ended up hitting a parked vehicle in front of a residence.

The driver was then arrested.  He's a 25-year-old man from Ionia.  The driver was not hurt but is being held on charges of fleeing and eluding, operating while intoxicated and having open intoxicants in the vehicle.
