LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The "lone wolverine" is heading to Michigan's Capitol this week.

A traveling exhibit featuring the first wild wolverine confirmed in the state since the 1800s has been making its way around the state since last year.

It now is stopping in Lansing and will be shown there Tuesday through Friday.

Department of Natural Resources Director Keith Creagh will join state Sens. Mike Green and Phil Pavlov for the exhibit's unveiling Tuesday at the Capitol.

The wolverine's carcass was discovered in 2010 by hikers in the Minden City State Game Area in the state's Thumb region. She's since been stuffed and mounted.

Despite its lack of native wolverines, Michigan unofficially is known as "The Wolverine State," and the animal is the mascot of the University of Michigan's sports teams.
