122 guns collected at Lansing buyback

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Lansing police say their latest gun buyback program has brought in 122 firearms.
The Lansing State Journal reports that people turned in 73 handguns, 47 long guns and two assault or military style guns. They were brought in Saturday afternoon at the Tabernacle of David Church.
Police spokesman Officer Robert Merritt says he's pleased with how the buyback program turned out.
The previous buyback drive was in August, when people brought in 60 long guns and 40 handguns.
Those turning in weapons Saturday got Meijer gift cards for $50 for long guns, $100 for handguns and $150 for assault or military style guns. The drive only paid for functional weapons but did accept non-functioning guns.
