CHARLOTTE, Mich. (WOOD) - A married couple involved in a string of more than 100 burglaries in West Michigan was sentenced on Tuesday.
Jason Engle, who pleaded guilty to first- and second-degree home invasion in December, will spend a year in the Eaton County Jail and serve three years of probation.
His wife Heather Engle, who pleaded guilty to second-degree home invasion in December, will serve 300 days behind bars and serve 3 years of probation.
Joshua Goss pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree home invasion and one count of possession of burglary tools on Jan. 3. He was sentenced to 38 to 120 months in a state prison.
The burglary spree spanned Kent, Allegan, Ionia, Eaton, Calhoun and Barry counties. The trio was caught after they were seen performing some break-ins.
For about six weeks, Michigan State Police told 24 Hour News 8, the three were reportedly selling their stolen items out of a thrift store on Apple Street in downtown Hastings.
Stolen goods were recovered from the thrift store and a house the Engles rented on Green Street. Police also found a pipe bomb at the thrift shop.
The trio did four- to six break-ins a day, authorities believe, between three and five days a week.
