GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The body of former first lady Betty Ford was transported Wednesday from California, to the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, and then in a motorcade to the museum named after her late husband for a brief service.

A public repose is set for Wednesday night starting at 7.

Mrs. Ford's plane landed in Cascade Township at 4:53 p.m., with her relatives on board, as well. Her burial is scheduled for Thursday.

Betty Ford's body departed California for her final resting place around 1:15 p.m. EST, and hours later, arrived at the airport. The motorcade arrived at the Ford Museum a little after 6 p.m. Gov. Rick Snyder made brief remarks.

Her funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, and the eulogists include Lynne Cheney and Richard Norton Smith. Former President Bill Clinton and former first lady Barbara Bush will attend.

Former first lady Rosalynn Carter and journalist Cokie Roberts praised Mrs. Ford during a California funeral on Tuesday.
