GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A slow but steady stream of people continue to sign the condolence book for former First Lady Betty Ford at the Gerald Ford Presidential Museum.
The lobby will remain open around the clock until Mrs. Ford is buried next to her husband on the museum grounds.
Signers from around the state and around the country have put pen to paper. Some came simply to sign, while others had more to say about how her boldness is her legacy.
One person wrote Betty Ford was "the most perfect imperfect role model. She will be missed."
"She was very open about everything, especially about her breast cancer and drug addiction," said Mary Jeanne Hansen. "That helped a lot of people and encouraged them to do something about theirs."
"I want to thank Mrs. Ford for everything she did in our community, for our country and for the world," said signer Joanne Grzeszak.
"They were such good people. He was a good president and they were wonderful Michiganians," Hansen said.
