THORNAPPLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - An early Saturday morning crash closed M-37 and 108th Avenue near Middleville for several hours.
An eyewitness in the area at the time of the crash tells 24 Hour News 8 that one of the drivers involved was trapped. The eyewitness says three people helped move debris out of the way to get to the victim before rescuers arrived on scene.
Barry County Sheriff's department say that a total of three cars were involved in the accident. An investigation has found that the driver of a Ford Taurus was traveling northbound on M-37. That driver then collided with the rear of a Chevy pickup truck who was also traveling in the same direction.
The driver of the Ford Taurus then lost control, crossed the center lane, and hit a G-M-C Jimmy head-on. The crash caused a fire and three of the four occupants in the Ford Taurus had to be transported to area hospitals for treatment.An Aero Med helicopter transported at least one person to an area hospital.
The accident remains under investigation.
