HASTINGS, Mich. (AP) - Civil Air Patrol members from across Michigan are taking part in a disaster response exercise this weekend.
The scenario involves simulated heavy storms hitting West Michigan.
As part of the training, air and ground crews are assessing simulated storm damage and verifying the condition of the electrical infrastructure.
The mission base is at the Hastings airport.
Residents might see low-flying aircraft and people in military uniforms in the vicinity of the airport through Sunday.
The purpose of the exercise is to make sure the Michigan Wing of the Civil Air Patrol is capable of a quick and accurate response to emergencies.
