PRAIRIEVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - The wife of a man driving with a suspended license died when he lost control on a snowy road in Barry County Wednesday evening and hit a tree.
The single-car crash happened around 7 p.m. on Cressey Road near Kane Road, officials said in a release.
The car was headed east on Cressey, left the road and hit the tree. Melissa Ulferts, 42, from Plainwell, was trapped inside and died at the scene.
Her husband, Elvin Kizziar, 36, suffered a minor injury. He was arrested for driving with a suspended license causing death.
Since 1997, Kizziar has a history of driving with invalid licenses.
Investigators found medicine in the car and are awaiting results of blood tests taken on Kizziar.
