PRAIRIEVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Firefighters battled windy conditions Thursday morning as they extinguished a fire at a home in Barry County.

The 911 call was received around 2 a.m. regarding the blaze on Spring Port Drive near Woodward Avenue.

A man and his wife were inside the home at the time and escaped safely. The American Red Cross is now assisting them.

The fire spread from the house, which is considered a loss, to the garage and some trees.

There is no cause of the fire yet but there were some downed utility lines in the area.
