SAUGATUCK, Mich. (WOOD) - It's been a continuous controversy going on in Saugatuck, but part of the debate over the development of the Singapore Dunes is finally over.

The township board voted unanimously Wednesday evening to settle a contentious lawsuit and allow development along the lakeshore.

Saugatuck Township officials spoke to the public tonight about the latest plan for the Dension property along the lakeshore, but not all residents were happy about the possibility of an agreement.

"If you pass this rendition, it will be overturned again, costing township residents more money to fight in yet another illegal, unfair action you have taken," said one resident.

A zoning change led developers to file a lawsuit two years ago. Now, the zoning will revert to its original status and developers will have to apply for variances through the township.
