WAYLAND, Mich. (WOOD) - Michigan State Police used a police helicopter early Tuesday morning to search for a man in Allegan County.

The search was in the Wayland area and was over around 4:00 a.m.

Police told 24 Hour News 8 that they were looking for a man who they believed was possibly suicidal.

State police said the man was involved in a domestic dispute in the 600 block of 132nd Avenue in Wayland Township Monday afternoon.

Police said later that evening he ran into the woods, threatening to harm himself.

Police K-9s were called in to search the woods and then a helicopter was used in the search.

State police said the response is standard procedure when they have credible information someone may be suicidal.

Police said the man has been found, a resident spotted him walking through Wayland and notified authorities.
