Mich escapees stole truck in Indiana

KOKOMO, Ind. (WOOD) - Two escaped inmates and their girlfriends from Allegan County (Mich.), spotted in Indiana, are believed to have stolen another vehicle and are now armed with rifles and on the move. Once again, they seem to have eluded authorities.

Gregory Bradshaw and Kenneth Grauman II are still being sought, and are traveling with their girlfriends -- Laura Grauman (Kenneth's cousin) and Brittany Rector. The men escaped Sept. 29 from the Lake County Residential Reentry Program in Baldwin, Mich.

All four were seen at a Kroger store in Kokomo, Ind. early Thursday morning.

Authorities suspect the escapees were headed toward Kenneth Grauman's cousin, Kassandra Sego, who lives in Kokomo.

"He's not going back, I know that. He's doesn't want to," Sego told 24 Hour News 8. "It's not going to end well."

Police searched her home Thursday morning. She said she hasn't seen the escapees.

"They need to be caught," Sego said. "They need to give it up."

Late Thursday afternoon, authorities believe they stole a silver 2006 extended cab GMC pickup truck with a Purdue University vanity license plate on the front and Indiana license plate PTC-5105 on the back, and may be headed out of the area. The truck had two rifles in the back of the truck.

Kokomo, Ind. police received a call at 4:41 a.m. Thursday about a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Kroger store on S. Washington Street. That vehicle turned out to be a Ford Taurus stolen from Dorr, Mich. by the escapees on Wednesday.

Police arrived at the store and learned about the latest developments in the case, and watched surveillance video that showed Bradshaw and Grauman had been in the store with their girlfriends.

After leaving the store, police said, the four decided to ditch the Taurus because a police officer had been on their trail -- though that officer didn't know the vehicle was stolen nor that it contained armed escapees.

It was later Thursday around 3 p.m. that the suspects allegedly stole the pickup truck from along the side of the road where a farmer had parked it.

The stolen Taurus was recovered and returned to Allegan County Thursday afternoon.

By Thursday night, no one had any idea where the four suspects were located. It was only the latest of several times that the escapees have seemed to simply disappear.

Indiana police have also expressed dissatisfaction with Michigan authorities, saying no one informed them that the armed escapees, spotted twice this week in Allegan County near Dorr, may be headed in their direction.

One officer said the lack of knowledge could have been extremely dangerous for the officer who was following the Taurus and preparing to make a traffic stop before he was redirected to another call.

But authorities in Michigan said they had been in contact with agencies in Indiana.

The men are considered armed and dangerous, and you should call 911 if you spot them or know anything about this case to help authorities.

Authorities have received many tips about the suspects since the investigation began. One such tip around 7:51 a.m . Thursday said that Bradshaw and one of the women were spotted in a pickup truck at the Speedway gas station in Wayland, Mich. Police checked the business' surveillance footage and determined this sighting was false.

Bradshaw is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 185 pounds, and has brown hair and blue eyes. He has been arrested 10 times since 2003; serving time for drug related crimes and home invasion, and escaped from a juvenile facility.

Grauman is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, and has red hair and blue eyes. He has been arrested seven times since 1996 for drug related crimes, ethnic intimidation, carrying a concealed weapon, being a felon in possession of a firearm and fleeing police.
