Man sentenced in fatal bicycle accident

    DORR, Mich. (WOOD) - A man will spend at least the next 10 months in jail after his vehicle hit and killed a bicyclist on an Allegan County road.

    Jesse James Vogt was sentenced Friday. He will also spend five years on probation, continue outpatient treatment for alcohol abuse, and have his license suspended.

    He pleaded no contest on Jan. 6 to operating while intoxicated causing incapacitated injury. He was originally charged with operating while intoxicated causing death and operating with a high blood-alcohol content.

    It was June 28, 2011 when Vogt was driving on 142nd Avenue near 20th Street in Dorr.

    Troy Tolan, 14, was riding his bike when he cut across the path of the pickup truck and was hit, Allegan County deputies said.

    Vogt was drunk at the time.
