MANLIUS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - An Ottawa County man walking on a trestle with railroad tracks was hit and killed by a CSX train Saturday morning.
An Allegan County Sheriffs Deputy tells 24 Hour News 8 the crew of the freight train called dispatch around 6:10 a.m. saying they hit a pedestrian.
Authorities say the man was walking on a trestle over the Kalamazoo River which was not meant for pedestrian traffic.
They found the victim's body in the water around 7 a.m. The victim did not have identification on him, but he was wearing something that helped police track down who he was.
Authorities have not released the name of the victim, pending family notification.
