ALLEGAN, Mich. (WOOD) - An Allegan man will spend at least 31 years in prison in the strangling death of his girlfriend.
Witt pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and second-degree criminal sexual conduct in the April 2012 death of his 38-year-old girlfriend Amy Hartman.
He was sentenced to 31.25 years to 50 years in prison Tuesday.
Witt, 45, was living with Hartman in her Plainwell home at the time of the murder.
Family members and neighbors told 24 Hour News 8 shortly after the murder that they never saw any signs of violence or abuse between the two. They said they were both very nice people.
