ALLEGAN, Mich. (WOOD) - An Allegan middle school student, crossing the street on his bike, was hit by a car that was turning right on red Thursday morning.

The 14-year-old from L.E. White Middle School was at the intersection of M-40 and M-89 around 6:50 a.m. The driver of a black Hummer, turning right, hit the boy. He got up after he was hit and the driver asked if he was OK.

He said he was and rode off on his bike, and the driver continued east on M-89.

Witnesses stopped the boy to see if he was alright. He continued on to a friend's house, then to school. About 30 minutes after the incident, witnesses called police, followed by the school.

The boy has some bruises, officers told 24 Hour News 8.

The driver of the Hummer was found and police determined it was not a hit-and-run. It's being treated as a traffic accident and the case is closed.
