HOPKINS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A bicyclist sustained serious injuries after being hit by a car in Hopkins Township on Sunday night.
The bicyclist was headed north on 16th Street and was hit by a vehicle headed west on 135th Avenue as he crossed the intersection, according to Allegan County Sheriff's deputies on the scene.
The bicyclist, who has been identified as 21-year-old Kelsey Goode from Kalamazoo, was wearing dark clothing, no protective gear and had no lights on his bike.
The driver, Jennifer Birman a 27-year-old from Hopkins, told police she could not see Goode crossing the intersection when the collision occurred.
The bicyclist was taken to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo with serious injuries, but was conscious when he was taken away from the scene.
