BRADLEY, Mich. (WOOD) - Gun Lake Casino and Gun Lake Tribe of Pottawatomi Indians officials say the Wayland area casino is doing well, and they have checks to prove it.
Tribe officials on Monday presented almost $8 million in revenue sharing checks to state and local governments.
Tribal chairman D.K. Sprague said 8% of revenues goes to the state -- a check of $6.24 million to the Michigan Strategic Fund; and 2% goes to local area governments -- a check of $1.56 million.
"We're using it to balance our budget for the next year," Allegan County Commissioner Mark DeYoung said after the presentation. "It saves jobs, because otherwise we would have had to cut that from our budget."
When asked about any possible expansion projects, Sprague said there are no definite plans yet, but they are interested in expanding the casino floor.
