ALLEGAN, Mich. (WOOD) - For at least "a couple years," Lauralee Grauman had been using meth. And it changed her completely, her mother said.
Grauman was one of four Michigan fugitives arrested in Colorado Thursday after nearly two weeks on the run.
Her mother, Dawn Morse, said the only thing that surprised her about the arrest was that the four had nearly $2300 on them.
Since she's been doing meth, Morse said, she didn't care about anything, "just getting high." Her daughter will likely do some time in prison, but her mom thinks that may help.
Morse also expressed relief the cross-country chase was over. Meth, she said, turned her daughter from a generous person into an addict.
"She's going to do some time and that stinks, but she's alive," Morse said. "That's all I can say. Maybe if she does some time she will be away from the drugs, then maybe when she gets out she will be the Laura that was so cool."
Laura, she said, is in love with escapee Gregory Bradshaw and would visit him in prison and go with him whenever he was out.
