CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich. (WOOD) -
The family of a teen who survived a deadly crash organized and held a blood drive for him on Saturday.

Sean Thompson lost a lot of blood in the August 2012 crash, that killed 16-year-old Wyatt Phillips.

Thompson was stuck inside the crashed car for about an hour and a half.

He was taken to the the hospital via AeroMed, and he is still undergoing rehabilitation at Mary Free Bed, learning to walk again.

Part of the care Thompson received was getting several pints of blood that was donated.

As a thank you, Thompson's family organized a blood drive.

34 people came out to donate, and 29 pints of blood were collected.

The family says they're happy with the turn out, and plan to hold another blood drive they hope will be even bigger.
