EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The Michigan State University Board of Trustees has approved a 3.4 percent tuition increase for in-state undergraduate students.
The East Lansing school says that with the increase approved Friday a student taking a full load of classes, defined as 15 credit hours, will pay about $6,311 per semester. That's $210 per semester more -- or $14 per credit hour more -- than currently paid. The increase takes effect for fall 2012.
School President Lou Anna Simon says the budget represents a continued commitment to world-class programs, financial aid and fiscal prudence.
The school expects a $44 per credit hour tuition increase for nonresident undergraduate students.
For graduate students, Michigan residents will see an increase of $28.25 per credit hour. Nonresidents will see an increase of $55.75 per credit hour.
