GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Chinese company has withdrawn requests to West Michigan school districts to enroll Chinese students.

The Weiming Educational Group will not pursue deals with the Kent or Ottawa county intermediate school districts, according to a Monday email to Forest Hills Public Schools parents from superintendent Daniel Behm.

"It appears that both the potential scope of the program and the complex details that remained to be finalized were factors in Weiming's decision," the email reads in part.

As a result, the email said, a Thursday informational meeting on the potential partnership has been canceled.

Weiming may yet look into a partnership with a single West Michigan district. Behm's email said Forest Hills would not be that district.
