GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Grand Rapids Public Schools Superintendent Bernard Taylor was set to be interviewed by the Cleveland school board and the Cleveland mayor Tuesday afternoon for that district's top job.
The Tuesday sessions are the first face-to-face interviews for the job as CEO of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.
Taylor confirmed in late April that he was indeed considering the job in the Ohio district after he was named one of nine candidates. The Grand Rapids superintendent was then named one of three finalists.
Cleveland school leaders had set a June 1 target to have a new superintendent in place, and a spokeswoman said that has not yet changed.
Visits to the workplaces of the three finalists are part of the planned search process, the spokeswoman said, and board members will schedule them after Tuesday's interviews.
The board may choose to narrow the field by not visiting all three candidates, she said.
The other candidates are Lorain, Ohio Superintendent Cheryl Atkinson and Lowell, Mass. Superintendent Chris Scott.
