Scholarship for GVSU nursing doctorate

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - An associate professor at Grand Valley State University is helping launch the school's new doctoral program in nursing management by creating a scholarship for its students.

The school started its Doctor of Nursing Practice program in August. It takes two years for students who start with master's degrees and four to five years for those with bachelor's degrees.

Jean Martin helped start the nursing doctoral program. She's also making a donation to create a scholarship for students interested in child and adolescent health.

The first Martin scholarship is going to Jaclynn Lubbers. She attended Hope College as an undergraduate and earned a master's in nursing at Grand Valley State, which has a health campus in Grand Rapids.
