ALLENDALE, Mich. (WOOD) - Grand Valley State University was named one of the nations most environmentally responsible colleges for the second year in a row.
The Princeton Review selects colleges based on an above average commitment to sustainability, as well as offering a number of different student activities and initiatives.
The selection categories include a dedication to build according to LEED standards, sustainability committees, environmental literacy programs, the use of renewable energy resources, recycling and conservation programs within a college or university.
"Being named a green college helps position GVSU as a leader in sustainability," said Wendy Wenner, dean of the Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies,"and it shows how students are making an impact on the universities successes and accomplishments."
