LEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A man had to be airlifted to a hospital Saturday night after crashing a vehicle into a tree near the intersection of 107th Avenue and 55th Street in Allegan County's Lee Township.
Deputies told 24 Hour News 8 the driver's SUV left the road around 5:30 p.m.
A Lee Township volunteer firefighter lives right next to the scene of the crash.
Capt. Patrick Curley told 24 Hour News 8 he "heard a car just sliding sideways and wham! Both me and my son are both on the fire department and I said, 'Call 911.' So we ran on over here and there was a man just trapped tremendously in this vehicle. It took us over an hour to get him out."
