BARRY COUNTY, Mich. (WOOD) - The man accused of causing the death of a Barry County Sheriff's Deputy will stand trial in the case.
Justin Malik, 24 of Hastings, was in court Friday morning to face charges he turned his car in front of Deputy Christopher Yonkers in October.
Prosecutors maintain he was drunk when he caused the crash on M-43 in Carlton Township. Yonkers was working undercover at the time of his death.
Malik is charged with operating under the influence of alcohol causing death, driving on a suspended license and negligent homicide.
