KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - A Kalamazoo County man apparently conned Apple out of more than 9,000 iPod Shuffles, according to a document filed in US District Court.

The felony information accuses Nicholas Arthur Woodhams of creating the scheme. After getting the thousands of iPods he sold them online for $49 apiece, according to the document.

As part of the scheme, Woodhams allegedly created businesses to fix broken iPods. He allegedly used real Shuffle serial numbers and numbers he guessed at by figuring out how they were created to get the company to send "replacements" to people who were helping him.

He ran the scheme during parts of 2006 and 2007, according to the federal allegation.

The feds have seized $500,000 from one brokerage account, three cars including an Ariel Atom 2 racing vehicle, and some real estate in the case.
