GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The Kent County Sheriff's Department got a court order to release a dying inmate from custody and turn him over to his family.

He's 40-year old Konrad Spiegel who's been on life support at Spectrum Hospital since attempting to hang himself in his jail cell.

Spiegel was arrested two weeks ago, for the attempted abduction of a female acquaintance
outside the Family Tavern in Caledonia where she worked.

Spiegel's father, Richard, tells 24 Hour News 8 the family will take Konrad off life support tomorrow afternoon.

Richard Spiegel says if his son dies within the hour, his organs will be donated to
the Gift of Life.

If Konrad survives off of life-support, he will be under the care of Hospice.
