ROCKFORD, MI (AP) - A southwestern Michigan native came out on top in a nationwide search to find an artist to produce a sculpture of former President Gerald Ford.
The sculpture will take up residence in the U.S. Capitol rotunda.
The Gerald R. Ford Foundation has commissioned Brett Grill to create the statue.
He is a Rockford High School graduate and assistant professor of art at the University of Missouri.
The former Cannon Township man's work will stand in the rotunda along with figures of Washington, Jefferson, Eisenhower and Reagan.
The 29-year-old Grill says he is flattered by the honor.
