Grand Rapids, Mich. (WOOD) - Residents of a Southwest Grand Rapids neighborhood are being allowed to return home after a shooting Wednesday evening.
Grand Rapids police cordoned off an area near the corner of Griggs and Jerome after a shooting. That area is near Burton and U.S. 131. A 24 Hour News 8 crew says the incident happened at one of the homes at the corner of Griggs and Jerome.
Police brought out the heavy equipment. Officers with rifles and in full body armor converged on the house. Police were called to the scene around 6:30 tonight on a report of shots fired.
We understand one person was shot in the arm. The victim's injuries are not life-threatening. Police do have some young men in custody. We're not sure at this time if they are witnesses or how they are involved with the shooting. Before 10 pm, police took down their crime tape and allowed residents to return home. Nine people were taken from inside the home and are now in custody. Police are talking to the nine to see if any were involved in the shooting. Investigators are also looking at evidence they obtained inside the house.
24 Hour News 8 learned there was another shooting in the area on Tuesday. Police are now looking into whether the two are connected.
