RICHLAND, Mich. (WOOD) - A molotov cocktail was found in a Kalamazoo County home damaged by flames.

Sheriff's officials are treating a Sunday morning fire in Richland Township as an arson investigation.

The family was able to extinguish the flames before firefighters arrived at the home in the 8200 block of N. 30th St.

When fire investigators arrived, they discovered major damage to the home, along with a molotov cocktail.

Also known as a petrol bomb, a molotov cocktail is an improvised incendiary device typically made out of a bottle filled with gasoline, with a flammable wick.

The investigation has not yet led deputies to a suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department or the Silent Observer.
