KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - A bankruptcy filing last month may have an impact on contamination cleanup along the Kalamazoo River.
One of the companies financing the cleanup, Lyondell Basell Industries, which owns Millenium Holdings filed bankruptcy last month.
That leaves Georgia Pacific Corporation as the only financier of the cleanup for the time being.
A spokesperson for the Environmental Protection Agency says bankruptcies are common in the superfund business, and the only area that this may effect is the Plainwell #2 site.
That's a mile of river about 5 miles upstream from Plainwell.
