ALMENA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office Narcotic’s Unit teamed up with the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team for one of the largest methamphetamine busts in West Michigan.
The two agencies got a location for David Lee, 38, of Kalamazoo who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of manufacturing methamphetamine out of Kalamazoo County.
Lee and a 42-year-old Michael Scott Hall were seen Thursday morning in a vehicle leaving the man's residence in the 23000 block of Humming Bird Avenue in Mattawan. Police executed a traffic stop, in which Lee provided a false name. Lee also had a suspended driver’s license and was in possession of methamphetamine. A search of vehicle revealed an item used in the manufacturing of meth.
Both men were taken into custody.
Detectives then obtained a search warrant for the residence on Humming Bird Avenue and found waste from a large meth manufacturing operation being stored in the garage. The suspects were using the new “one pot” method and the “red P” or red phosphorus method to make meth.
Melissa Patrick, 35, was inside the house and was arrested. Patrick, Lee and Hall are facing charges in connection with this bust.
