When Paul Johson arrived at work early Monday morning he noticed a large front window pane broken, and a burglar alarm blaring. The office was a mess. Papers and glass strewn throughout, the ceiling damaged and desks ransacked.
"I was afraid there was a robber in the office," Johnson told 24 Hour News 8. "It was kind of like a tornado tore through the office" of Skytron Grand Rapids, a medical equipment manufacturer.
When he stepped into one of the offices, he found the culprit. A big wild turkey.
But the turkey would not leave quietly. For nearly 25 minutes Johnson and two other employees wrestled with the turkey.
"I'm 6'5'' (and) I had a hard time taking down the turkey," he said. "I didn't think they were that tough."
They finally trapped it in the company conference room. Using welders gloves, Johnson cornered the foul bird, and wrapped it in a large blanket.
He carried the turkey outside, and let it run off.
