ZEELAND, Mich. (WOOD) - Herman Miller confirming the company laid off 110 more people Monday. The 110 people were terminated as a combination of layoffs and job eliminations.

The majority of the layoffs were in West Michigan, although there were several in plants in other areas.

External Communications Director Mark Schurman declined to give the numbers of actual layoffs versus job eliminations for "competitive reasons." He also did not specify locations for the layoffs for the same reason.

"Hopefully the layoffs and other measures that we have taken will give us the financial flexibility that we need," Schurman said. "As conditions improve, we are in a position to bring people back.

The 110 layoffs were new and not part of any previously announced layoffs.
