GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Is the newspaper in trouble?
A question from a viewer, along with a shrinking paper, has
raised some questions lately.
24 Hour News 8 spoke with the editor of the Grand Rapids
Press, Mike Lloyd.
He said the paper is not in trouble.
Lloyd said the current economic climate led to a "contingency
plan" of scaling the paper down to two sections Monday and Tuesday,
three on Wednesday and building to eight sections on Sunday.
They have not had any permanent changes in their product. Their
size is dictated by news and advertisements.
He said January is always slow.
Right now, though, they are extremely fluid due to changes in
the industry and the economy.
"Our long-term goal is to stay in business." Lloyd said.
