GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Derek Copp, the Grand Valley State University student shot during a drug raid at his apartment, has been released from the hospital, his attorney said Thursday.
Copp is home in Spring Arbor, recuperating with his family, his attorney, Fred Dilley, told 24 Hour News 8.
An Ottawa County deputy shot Copp during a drug raid of the student's off-campus apartment last Wednesday. The shot broke ribs, punctured his lung and pierced his liver.
He was treated for a week at Spectrum Health Butterworth.
State police continue to investigate the shooting. Copp has yet to face criminal charges.
His attorney says police recovered a small amount of marijuana
during the raid.
