It has been a long, trying five years for Clifford and Anita Marshall.
March 12, 2004 was the last time anyone saw their daughter, Mary Lands.
Since then there have been search efforts, bickering between the family and law enforcement, and the arrest of Lands' one-time boyfriend for her murder.
But still no body.
The family is hoping money and national attention will help find their daughter.
A $10,000 reward has been established for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Lands' disappearance, and what investigators are now convinced of -- her killing.
The Carole Sund/Carrington Foundation has given half of the reward fund. The foundation is named in honor of Carole and Judi Sund and Silvina Pelosso. The women were murdered during a sight seeing trip to Yosemite National Park in 1999.
The funds were established after Carole Sund's parents posted a reward for information in the Yosemite case. Those funds and media attention proved helpful in finding the women and their killer. The foundation was created to help families in similar circumstances.
The Marshalls are donating the other half of the reward. They say they are convinced the reward and the most recent public and police attention will help find their daughter.
"We don't feel like we're alone anymore," said Clifford Marshall.
The Marshalls spoke to the media at Marshall City Hall. Members of the Marshall Police Department and other agencies were on hand as well. It was a much different scene from past news conferences regarding the case.
Early on fights between the family and Marshall police marred the investigation. But recently the Michigan Attorney General's office took over the investigation, which still involves both Marshall and State police.
Lands' family says the disagreements are behind them and that everyone is finally working toward the same goal.
Finding Mary.
