Belding mayor loses bank job

BELDING, Mich. (WOOD) - Shane Husted, the mayor of Belding, told 24 Hour News 8 Wednesday he was terminated from his employment as a loan officer at Firstbank Corp. in Ionia on Monday.

Husted claims it's a personnel matter, not criminal. The Ionia Police Department told 24 Hour News 8 there is no criminal investigation.

Husted says he was escorted from the building like any employee when they are discharged from their employment.

"I was released and shown to my office and they watched me clean out my desk and then they escorted me out," Husted said.
