GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - From Iowa to Michigan, several people saw an apparent meteor light up the sky late Wednesday night.

Several West Michigan residents called 24 Hour News 8 shortly after 11 p.m., saying they saw the fireball in the western sky.

Watch the videos to the right as the meteor was captured on multiple cameras in the Midwest.

"I was looking out the window to the west and saw what at first I thought was a shooting star, until I realized it was much bigger," Ionia County resident Clint Hoppes wrote in an e-mail to 24 Hour News 8. "Then it turned red and looked as though sparks were coming from it."

Storm Team 8 Chief Meteorologist Bill Steffen said reports of the meteor are coming in from Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, North Dakota and South Dakota.
