GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A new fieldhouse at Calvin College will open to the public in February.
24 Hour News 8 took an inside look at the Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex.
The 360,000 square ft. complex will house the Van Noord Arena, an aquatic center, a tennis and track center and a health and recreation center.
Primarily, the building is designed for academics, featuring six classrooms separate from the athletic facilities.
Calvin College administration tailored the design towards what students want.
Amenities include an Olympic-sized swimming pool, new concession stands, seating areas and a rock climbing wall.
Wednesday will be the first home game inside the Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex, against Trine University of Indiana.
A public dedication for the fieldhouse is planned for Friday, February 20 at 4 p.m.
