SAUGATUCK, Mich. (WOOD) - It has been rated as one of the top film festivals in the world.

The Waterfront Film Festival 2012
in Saugatuck begins Thursday night with a kickoff party featuring a Beverly McClellan concert, and lasts until Sunday.

The event lures tens of thousands of visitors each year, and brings more than movies to the area. It brings money and lots of it.

An economic study in 2009 discovered the event generates more than $1.5 million.

Most of the movies begin Friday for the 14th annual event.

You can buy single movie passes, day passes or passes for the entire weekend. Prices range from $10 to $500.

Some popular movie industry celebrities and insiders have been known to attend the event in the past.
