Rock The Rapids begins in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Grand Rapids' original music festival begins Monday.

Rock The Rapids will take place in the downtown arena district through Aug. 25.

Miranda Lambert kicks off the first night of entertainment fun.

The UPROAR Festival featuring Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind, Papa Roach and Adelitas Way will be Aug. 21.

Toby Keith performs on Aug. 22.

Carnival of Madness featuring Evanescence, Chevelle, Cavo and New Medicine will be on Aug. 23.

Boyz II Men and Bell Biv DeVoe will perform on Aug. 24.

Big Boi and B.o.B will hit the stage on Aug. 25.

General admission tickets range from $34 to $59 for a single day pass, and up to $89 for VIP privileges. You can and are encouraged to bring chairs, and officials suggest bag chairs but other lawn chars are OK too.

A major street closure involves Business U.S. 131 between Oakes Street and Cherry Street.

Parking is available at public lots and garages in the area.
